Located at a distance of 35 kms from Jagdalpur, the height of the waterfalls is approximately 30 ft in stages. One can walk down the steps to the base of the waterfalls. It is one of the most popular sites in Bastar and you will always find tourists there.

This spectacular waterfall is a true feast for the senses, with its magnificent cascades of milk-white water in the hot summer months giving way to a dramatic brown hue during the monsoon season. The sheer size and power of the Chitrakoot Waterfalls are awe-inspiring, and it’s no surprise that it’s often referred to as the “Mini Niagara Falls” of India. Close to the waterfall there is a govt rest house and behind it steps are there to go down to river bed. There are 160 steps to go to the river bed. Here boating facility is available and charges are per head Rs 50/-. The boat man will take you close to the water falling point and you can enjoy the fall more but the moisture and splash of water will make you drench. Keep some water protection for your cameras. There is no camera fee, no parking fee, no entry fee or any other type of fee.
To make memorable of your visit to Chitrakoot Waterfalls, it’s best to plan to arrive in the afternoon, around 4 PM. At this time, the sun’s rays will be at their peak, casting a beautiful light on the waterfall and creating the best view. Additionally, there is a lighting arrangement in place to illuminate the falls in the evening, so staying for an hour or two into the evening is highly recommended. While you’re there, be sure to check out the small shops run by local tribes who sell beautiful handicraft items to tourists, adding to the unique cultural experience of your visit.
